How it works

Post the task and verified people nearby see it. By default, the first one to say yes gets it. You pay, and HSTLE holds the money until you have checked the work.

    With First hand, the default, the first verified person nearby who says yes gets your task. You see who it is, then you pay so they can start.

  2. Pay

    Pay. HSTLE holds it.

    The price plus the ₹10 fee, by card or UPI. Held by HSTLE, not paid to them yet. On an in-person task you see them on the map while it is under way.

  3. Done

    Check it. Approve.

    They mark it done, often with a photo. You get 24 hours to check a job this size, up to 72 for long ones. Approve, or report a problem and the money stays held. If you do not answer, HSTLE checks the work and decides.

  4. Paid

    Ho gaya. They're paid.

    When you approve, or when HSTLE checks the work and releases it, 90% of the price goes to them. HSTLE keeps the fee and the other 10%.

  1. Say where and when. A trip, or a window when you are free online. Set your fee per spot and how many spots, 1 to 10.
  2. Choose who joins. People say what they need. You let them in, or say not this time.
  3. Do it, get paid. Each booking is a normal task: the money is held by HSTLE, you chat in the app, they approve, you are paid.

Safety and money, in full

When you pay

Posting costs nothing. With First hand you pay once someone takes the task; with I'll pick, once you pick. You pay by card or UPI. You can also pay when you post, and the task shows as secured to people nearby. Pools for business are always paid up front.

The service fee

₹10 per order, on top of the task price, shown before you pay. Buying something for you? Add an item budget: it is held with the price, they upload the shop bill, and what is not spent comes back to you. An urgent bump, if you add one, goes to them in full.

What they keep

They keep 90% of the task price, paid to their bank account. HSTLE keeps the other 10% and the ₹10 fee. The app shows amounts to the nearest rupee.

The time to check

When they mark it done, you get at least 24 hours to check, and up to 72 for longer jobs: three minutes for every minute of work. Approve early and they are paid sooner. If you do not answer in that time, HSTLE checks the work and decides. The money stays held until then.

When something goes wrong

Report a problem and the money stays held while the two of you talk it out in the task chat. 72 hours after the report, if they never replied, it is refunded to you. Otherwise a person on the HSTLE team reads the chat and the photos and decides: release, refund or a split. On a shopping task, money spent on a shop bill goes to them either way.

Cancelling

Free until you have paid. After that, cancelling costs ₹50, all of it to them for their time. Once they are on the way it is ₹60: ₹50 to them and ₹10 to HSTLE. The rest comes back to you. If they say in the app that they cannot finish, cancelling is free. Once they have marked it done, or bought something on a shop bill, you cannot cancel: report a problem instead.

If nobody takes it

On a single task you lose nothing. If you paid when you posted and nobody takes it within 24 hours, the full payment comes back to you. A business pool is different: unfilled spots are refunded at the spot price, and the one ₹10 fee is kept.

Who does it

Real people.
Verified first.

Before you can post or take a task, your account is verified: a government ID scan and a face match in the app, or a check by the HSTLE team. One ID document, one account. It is an ID check, not a police check.

  • Verified. Rated by finished jobs.

    A profile: ID verified, how long they have been on HSTLE, rating, reviews, jobs done, Go with them and Chat first.

  • Private. Numbers stay hidden.

    The task chat inside the app: messages about the pickup, with a note that messages are saved so the team can help if something goes wrong.

  • Location. Theirs, while it is under way.

    The map while a task is under way: the person's position on their way, minutes away, updated seconds ago.

  • SOS. Once an in-person task is under way.

    The person on their way, their rating, the money held until you approve, and the SOS button.

Verification

Every person's account is verified before it can post or take a task: a government ID scan and a face match in the app, or a check by the HSTLE team. Adults only: age is checked during verification. One ID document can hold one account. It is an ID check, not a police check, and you cannot choose by gender yet. One exception: some tasks are posted by HSTLE's own team accounts, which use a persona name, were set up by the team without a scan, and have the team choose who does the task. Profiles show ratings from finished jobs.

Numbers stay private

Chat and calls happen in the app, so neither of you sees the other's phone number. Messages are saved, so if something goes wrong the HSTLE team can read what was agreed. Deals made outside the app are not covered.

Location

On an in-person task, the person doing it shares their live location while the task is under way, so you can see them coming. It stops when the task ends. Your own live position is not shared with them. Otherwise the app keeps only a rough area, about half a kilometre, to show how far people are.

SOS

Once someone has taken an in-person task, both of you see an SOS button until it is done. It opens two choices: call 112, or alert the HSTLE team, which sends them your live location and the task's details. It is not on remote tasks or business pools.

How earning works

Is HSTLE in my city?

In-person tasks are in the Mumbai region of India for now: Mumbai, Thane and Navi Mumbai, out to Virar and Panvel. Remote tasks like typing or forms are open to anyone, anywhere. Money is in rupees for now, and getting paid needs a bank account in India. If nobody takes a single task, you are not charged.

What does First hand mean?

It is how a task is posted unless you change it: the first verified person nearby who says yes gets it. If you would rather choose, switch to I'll pick when you post. People then raise a hand, which means they will do it at your price, and you pick one.

What is HSTLE Zone?

A way to earn from what you are doing anyway. Post a plan: where you are going and when, or a window when you are free online, with a fee per spot. People nearby ask for a spot, and you decide who joins. Each booking then works like any task, with the money held by HSTLE until it is approved. If the person with the plan could not get your thing, you get all your money back, the fee too.

Can my AI assistant use HSTLE?

What can't I post yet?

Care of people or pets, anything involving a child, handling medication, or letting someone into an empty home. Every task is checked when it is posted, and illegal tasks are blocked. If the automatic check cannot run, the HSTLE team reviews the task after it goes live. The price box on this page gives a price, not a yes: the check runs when you post.

Is my stuff covered?

No. HSTLE is not an insurer; loss or damage is between the two of you. Under the Terms, a task must not involve carrying cash over ₹10,000, jewellery, passports, original papers, or anything worth more than ten times the task price. That includes shopping bought from an item budget, so keep the budget within it.

Do I need the app?

No. The web app at app.hstle.in does the whole job in a browser. The iPhone and Android apps add notifications, so you hear the moment someone says yes. The app speaks English or हिंदी.
